What is AYME?...

The Association of Young People with ME, AYME, (pronounced 'aim') is a registered UK charity for young people with ME/CFS. We support thousands of children and young people, parents and carers. AYME's support and information is a lifeline to children, young people, parents and carers. Members say our knowledge and experience is invaluable and they wished they'd found AYME sooner.

What does AYME do?

For children and young people with ME/CFS

  • Breaks the isolation and helps form new, understanding and fun friendships
  • Has knowledgeable, experienced and friendly people ready to listen to you
  • Helps with study, education, school or college problems
  • Provides leaflets and information to help you and your friends understand your condition

For parents and carers

  • Offers information and support
  • Helps find your nearest specialist ME/CFS service
  • Connects your doctor, teacher, social worker to a ME/CFS expert for advice and support
  • Puts you in touch with other parents in a similar situation
  • Provides resources to help you understand and better cope with your child's ME/CFS For health, education and social care professionals
  • Links you to other professionals and specialists working in ME/CFS
  • Gives information and support on how to help a child or young person with ME/CFS
  • Provides resources including leaflets, posters, DVDs and books
  • Provides invaluable knowledge and experience backed by medical and educational professionals.

What does AYME do for young people?

  • Membership of AYME is free to all young people in the UK who have ME/CFS and are aged 0- 25. On joining AYME you will have access to all our friendship-supporting services including:-
  • An online message board providing a great way to make new friends
  • A magazine, packed with bright and lively articles about young people with ME/CFS relationships, school, creative ideas, games, puzzles, news, views, letters and ideas, all submitted by young people with ME/CFS
  • Local get-togethers giving you a chance to meet other young people in a similar situation
  • Pen pals - we can link you up with other young people with similar likes, hobbies and interests
  • Uni-friends - for anyone considering or already at university to link-up with and swap information, news and chat
  • Special buddies for young people who need extra special support
  • E-mates and txt-mates to chat to online or by text
